Notary Lookup Page

Thank you for using the Kentucky Secretary of State’s Notary Lookup Service.

Special Commission Notary vs. Regular Commission (State-At-Large) Notary -- These are two separate commissions, with two separate commission dates. A notary public state at large is a resident or a nonresident of Kentucky who is appointed to perform notarial acts within the state of Kentucky, but these documents can go to other states for recording. A special commission notary is a resident or nonresident of Kentucky who is appointed by the governor of Kentucky to perform notarial acts inside or outside this state covering documents to be recorded in this state only.

Please note that this is an unofficial listing of Regular Commission (State-At-Large) Notaries in Kentucky. Applying to become a Regular Commission Notary is a two step process that must be finalized at the county clerk's office. As a result, this search may display individuals whose regular notary commissions have not been renewed or issued, and it may contain duplicates.

Special Commission Notaries are finalized with the Kentucky Secretary of State's Office and are also listed with this search.

It is important to understand the limitations of the database. Please review the following information.

  • The Kentucky Notary Lookup Service only displays applicants for notary commissions with the Secretary of State’s Office since 1996.
  • This notary database is a live database updated continuously.
  • This database contains only those applications for Notary Commission for the state of Kentucky.

Any perceived error or inconsistency in these records must be resolved by examining the official record.
To verify the validity of a Regular Commission Notary (State-At-Large), please contact the county clerk in the county of application.

To verify the validity of a Special Commission Notary, please contact Donna Williams at 502-564-2848 x413.

To search the database, select the search criteria and enter keywords that can identify the notary. The returned results will also display an option to search within those results.
