Historical Markers

In addition to the eleven State Historic Sites, there are virtually thousands of historic venues and locations that you can visit to learn more about in Kentucky. You may even pass by some of them on a daily basis. To mark such locations, the Kentucky Historical Society, in conjunction with the Transportation Cabinet, places special informational signs like the one to the left. There are over 1,750 such markers in the state, offering a wealth of information about our communities and the history that shaped them.
