Business Enhancement

Secretary of State Trey Grayson has transformed the way that businesses interact with the Office of the Secretary of State.  Thanks to the Secretary's dedication to business issues and to the application of technology, the office is now more accessible and efficient for Kentuckians.  Not only is it easier to file and view public documents with the Office of the Secretary of State, but previously outdated laws and statutes have been updated in order to keep Kentucky abreast of the continuous changes in the business environment.  Overall, the Business Services division of the Office of the Secretary of State has undergone a dramatic enhancement for the benefit of the Commonwealth.

New Partnership Legislation

For the first time in over fifty years, Kentucky's partnership law underwent major modernization and enhancement.  HB 234, sponsored by State Representative Scott Brinkman, passed the 2006 general assembly, aligning Kentucky law with the most recent version of the Uniformed Partnership Act.

Online Services

Most of the Office of the Secretary of State's new online services are designed to enhance Kentucky's business resources.  With a critically-acclaimed new online presence, the Office of the Secretary of State is the first stop for most businesses in Kentucky.  Under the leadership of Secretary Grayson, hundreds of thousands of images have been added to the business database.  Kentuckians can now access a variety of certificates and other useful documents via the web, essentially transforming the website into a 24-hour a day service center.

Additional Legislation

Because of the cumbersome and outdated nature of much of Kentucky's statutes, Secretary Grayson has advocated for a number of legislative changes to strengthen business development in the Commonwealth.  Other legislation will reduce the confusion created by current statutes and bring Kentucky law into accordance with other states’ uniform statutes.
