Precinct Location Information Wrong on Mailer to Louisville Voters

(Frankfort, KY)  The State Board of Elections has learned that a campaign flyer mailed to some voters in Louisville, Kentucky contains incorrect precinct location information. 

Early this evening the State Board of Elections received calls from voters who had received mailings that were purported to be paid for by the Kentucky Democratic Party and had the title “Time for a Change” with the photos of Barack Obama and Bruce Lunsford printed on it.  Voters stated that they were confused because they had received information from the county clerk’s office stating a different polling location.  The State Board of Elections has verified that the precinct information printed on the flyer was indeed incorrect.

“It is imperative that voters know that the most accurate precinct election information they receive via the U.S. Postal Service is from their local county clerk,” stated Secretary of State Trey Grayson, the state’s chief election official.  “If there are any questions about precinct location information, voters can visit the Voter Information Center at www.vote.ky.gov/vic or call their local county clerk.  This is a serious issue because Kentucky law requires a citizen to cast a vote in the proper precinct.”

            Voters in the flyer are incorrectly told that they are supposed to vote at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at 3315 Dixie Highway when the precinct location is the Hill Street Baptist Church at 2203 Dixie Highway. 

            Three precincts vote at this location:  K107, K108, and K121.  2,863 voters are registered to vote in those precincts.

            At this time, the State Board of Elections is unaware of any other precincts where this error may have been made.
