Special Election for the 6th congressional district is Tuesday, February 17, 2004

The special election to fill the unexpired term of former 6th district Congressman Ernie Fletcher will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2004. Congressman Fletcher resigned his office effective on the close of business on December 8, 2003, shortly before being sworn in as Kentucky’s Governor.
There will be three candidates on the ballot:
A. B. “Ben” Chandler, III (the Democratic Party) of Versailles, Kentucky
Mark Gailey (the political group/organization Libertarian Party) of Berea, Kentucky
Alice Forgy Kerr (the Republican Party) of Lexington, Kentucky
“The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for this special election,” stated Trey Grayson, Secretary of State and chief election officer of Kentucky. “It is extremely important that everyone participate in the democratic process, and I urge all voters in the sixth congressional district to get out and vote on the seventeenth.”
