Grimes Announces Special Election for State Representative, 52nd District
Alison Lundergan Grimes, Kentucky’s Secretary of State and Chief Election Official, announced today that a special election will be held on February 12, 2013, to fill the vacancy in the office of State Representative, 52nd Representative District. The 52nd District is comprised of McCreary and Wayne Counties and part of Pulaski County.
The Honorable Sara Beth Gregory, former Representative for the 52nd District, was elected in December to the office of Senator for the 16th Senatorial District. She resigned from the House of Representatives on January 3, 2013, vacating the remainder of her term. On January 7, 2012, pursuant to KRS 118.730, Governor Steve Beshear issued and Grimes certified a writ calling for an election to fill the vacancy.
The deadline for Republican and Democratic candidates nominated by their party, independent candidates and write-in candidates to file their certificates, petitions and declarations with the Secretary of State is Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 4:00 p.m., EST.
